Seen a bird with RINGS or WING TAGS on ?
Various ringing schemes are currently taking place around Great Britain, and indeed The World. The majority of ringed birds have a simple metal ring on one leg. Details of when, where, what age etc. etc. the bird was first ‘caught’ are recorded, and should that bird ever be caught again, or found dead, knowledge regarding movements, age etc. can be gained. Some ringing schemes however are used to find out more precise details of movement etc. and it is these that this page is designed to help with.
For information on HEN HARRIER wing-tags click here.
Colour rings are being used to mark LESSER BLACK-BACKED & HERRING GULLS at 3 breeding colonies in North West England.
